RWM is Great Britains premier event for resource management professionals. The show attracts more than 400 exhibitors and over 12’000 visitors, championing innovation by promoting achievable strategies, case studies and quality networking opportunities. RWM merged with Future Resource which was organised by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) and the Environmental Services Association (ESA).
Waste is a permanent issue on the agenda in the UK at both local and national level. A combination of ongoing increasingly rigorous legislation, ever stricter targets for local authorities and tighter requirements now imposed by law on every sector of commerce and industry is now driving growth in this sector.
For many years the UK waste and recycling market has been dominated and hampered by the easy and cheap use of landfill. As a consequence, alternative solutions to waste management have not been developed; not until implementation Landfill Directive limited the use of landfill and the UK Government introduced an escalating cost of landfill – the Landfill Tax. Industry estimates suggest that up to £30 billion will need to be invested across the sector in the coming 5 years. In view of this, great opportunities exist for Swiss technology providers, both large corporates and SMEs alike.
Finally, RWM is now running alongside the entire PRYSM Envirotex portfolio (“Flood Expo”, “The European Contamination Series” incl. Hazardous Waste Expo, Spill Response Expo and Land Remediation Expo and “Marine & Coastal Civil Engineering”) making the trade fair the most comprehensive environmental event in the UK at the moment.
