For the first time after many years "MUT - Messe für Umwelttechnik" took place from the 24.-27. September 2019 at Messeplatz Basel in cooperation with Messe Basel.

After a longer period since the early 2000s, an exhibition especially designed for Switzerland was held once again to offer providers of modern environmental technologies in the fields of "corporate environmental protection and environmental management", "water and waste water treatment", "waste management", "air pollution control" and "energy / energy efficiency" a local presentation platform and to promote networking among Swiss experts and professionals.

The stand concept with all-inclusive modular stands was designed to underline the small and cost-efficient framework of the event and invite exhibitors and visitors to exchange ideas and get to know each other better.

MUT was located in hall 1.0, the entrance area to ILMAC, which was taking place in hall 1. 1 upstairs. Specialists from the pharmaceutical, chemicaland biotechnology industries met at ILMAC, the Swiss industrial tradefair for laboratory and process technology. ILMAC also celebrated its 60th anniversary.

A total of 440 exhibitors and 12,270 visitors were counted for both shows.

The conference program of the MUT included contributions on some current issues and topics, such as:

- Finding alternative energy sources from waste and wastewater

- The reduction of electricity costs despite micro-pollution (ARA-internal)

- The potentials of digitization for clean waste separation

- The newest trends in the power-to-gas sector

- Operational air pollution control thanks to reduction of diffuse VOC emissions

- Switzerland Global Enterprise's export-consulting for Swiss SMEs interested in international markets

- Consulting for municipalities in the field of municipal waste disposal

The official MUT-Aperitif took place on Thursday afternoon, 26 September. All MUT exhibitors and visitors were invited to review the first three days with drinks, wine and Swiss specialities, to exchange ideas with each other, as well as with the present associations and to discuss future trends in environmental technology.

MUT Exhibitors' Feedbacks. . .

"Despite the rather small number of visitors, it was very gratifying that visitors from all regions of Switzerland and the near abroad, as well as from various sectors of environmental technology and laboratory analysis were represented. MUT enabled us to show our services to individual potential customers and due to our presence at the fair, we were able to make a very important offer." - FUB Research Centre for Environmental Observation, Ms. Zaida Kosonen.

"During MUT we were able to meet different customers from the surrounding area in one place. In addition, the exchange with other exhibitors and forum speakers was very valuable for us." - Hitachi Zosen Inova, Ms. Manuela Höllinger.

"We were able to have very good conversations at MUT and had a few interested parties. The fair went better than expected for us and we would definitely participate again in a future MUT edition." - VTA. We.Clean.Water., Mr. Jürgen Stroh.

Further, exhibitors such as Aquaren GmbH were also able to generate interesting requests for quotations.

Some exhibitors on the other hand, found that the fair was too small in this edition to be relevant to their activities. Although they are reluctant to participate in the future, they are nevertheless open to it.

Bernd Stadlwieser, the new CEO of the exhibition organiser MCH Group, was also at MUT and is looking positively into the future. As part of the restructuring and realignment of the MCH Group, a stronger focus will be placed on exhibitions in future. Accordingly, more fundswill be invested in such formats as MUT. The organizers would like to take this opportunity to thank Swiss associations such as SVUT, Biomasse Suisse, CleantechAlps, InfraWatt and VSA, as well as the S-GE for for their energetic support of the trade fair and for supporting of the conference program.
