A Region at a Critical Point 

Southeast Asia’s continued economic growth, industrial expansion, and rapid urbanization are significantly increasing demand for water – particularly in industrial and agricultural sectors. At the same time, water resources and infrastructure are under growing strain.

By 2050, around 70% of Asia’s population is expected to live in cities, while an estimated 269 million people in the region still lack access to clean water. Addressing potable water supply, wastewater management, sanitation, and water reuse is therefore essential to ensuring sustainable urban and economic development across ASEAN.
