Showcasing innovation has been POLLUTEC's primary purpose since its inception. One general trend is a natural continuation of what has been observed at previous shows, namely the systematic search for higher added value uses for waste, biogas-bio-methane, metals, or liquid effluents. This trend also extends to efforts to find higher performance or more diverse solutions for complex waste mixes (bio-waste, contaminated biomass, mixed plastics). There is also a growing focus on less environmentally aggressive treatment solutions and a desire to reduce the resources employed (energy, water, raw materials). In parallel with these technical goals, another clear trend is the search for decentralized processes with systems that, while not mobile, are economically viable for low volumes and can be positioned locally to support a circular economy and a more favorable environmental balance. It is these multiple approaches that create added value and economic and environmental balances that are increasingly converging, aided by ever more powerful digital tools, the Internet of Things, and data.
