From May 14 to 18, 2018 the world's leading trade fair for environmental technologies gathered the entire industry together in Munich.

This time again, three Swiss Pavilions were organized in order to provide its participants with the best stand location possible for their specific sectors and fields of interest: in hall A4 for waste and secondary raw materials, in hall B4 for refuse treatment and recycling and in hall B2 for water and wastewater treatment.

During the 5 days, the trade fair offered many opportunities for exhibitors in terms of regional and international networking, sales promotion, product feedback, discussions, topic-related talks and business development.

Our 24 Swiss companies on all 3 booths responded satisfactorily to the number of new contacts and the number of international visitors. The companies in hall A4 noticed positively, that many visitors had prior knowledge of their company and their products compared to the visitors in 2016. Also, the number of visitors from Eastern Europe was remarkable. Now, they are looking forward to working through their requests and following up with their new business contacts.

The refuse treatment companies joining the Swiss Pavilion in hall B4, in particular Borema AG, IUT Beyeler/ Taurus, SID SA/ SID Deutschland GmbH and Wirtech AG, concluded that the trade fair was a success and the quality of contacts was exceptionally well – as was expected by them. Their big and heavy machines all in one place on the other hand impressed many visitors.

A special event this year at the Swiss Pavilion was the Apéro sponsored by our supporting and cooperation partner the Swiss Water Association "VSA - Verband Schweizer Abwasser- und Gewässerschutzfachleute" on Tuesday, May 15th from 17.30-21.00 pm in hall B2. After Mr. Heinz Habegger, the president of VSA and CEO of Water Excellence AG, welcomed the guests with his speech, interesting discussions unfolded to background alphorn music from Barbara Quintero and our dear co-exhibitor Urs Arnold from Krofta Waters International. We would sincerely like to thank Mr. Habegger and the VSA association for supporting the Swiss presence at IFAT, for their trust in our company and for the support of our projects. Also, we would like to thank Mr. David Avery from S-GE - Switzerland Global Enterprise for his visit and support. A special thank you to Mr. Christian Rocke, IFAT Group Director, and members of the IFAT team, who pleasantly surprised us with their visit and welcomed the guests too.

With a total of 3’305 exhibitors from 58 countries, 141’000 visitors from impressing 160 countries and a floor space of 260’000 sqm, IFAT proved its role as an important industry platform for innovations and networking.

On a side note: the mix of exhibitors at the fair was a very interesting point. From corporations to representatives of municipalities and academia, this was not only an interesting aspect for visitors, but also enabled the direct exchange of experience and knowledge between different groups of exhibitors, which is a good prerequisite for future economic cooperation between these groups.

We would like to thank all our companies for taking part in the Swiss Pavilion at IFAT 2018 and also everyone involved in this project! We hope you enjoyed our services and hope to have you on board again for IFAT 2020!
