RES2026

Regional Ecological Summit 2026 (RES2026)

The Environmental Future of Central Asia

RES2026 is Kazakhstan’s new international trade fair for renewable energy, environmental technologies and sustainable infrastructure solutions. It brings together public authorities, utilities, developers, municipalities, international solution providers and high-level decision-makers, providing direct access to the stakeholders driving the green transition and the adoption of sustainable technologies across Central Asia and the South Caucasus (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan).

All six participating countries (Central Asia + Azerbaijan) will be represented at the presidential level with their respective delegations. The fair will also host a strong UN presence, organizing events, including panel discussions and side events, providing additional opportunities for networking.

Team Switzerland, through its strong contributions and local presence, creates exceptional opportunities for visibility and engagement at all levels – from potential local distributors to key regional EPCs. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) will contribute through the Blue Peace Central Asia Initiative (BPCA), active from 2017 to 2029, ensuring that Swiss expertise and content are prominently represented and that targeted matchmaking opportunities are enabled.

Central Asia and the South Caucasus present significant opportunities in water management, wastewater treatment, solid waste solutions, low-carbon construction materials, and renewable energy. By 2040, countries across the region may face a considerable water deficit, prompting governments to prioritize the development of infrastructure projects, including the construction and modernisation of reservoirs, modern irrigation systems, digital water management, and wastewater treatment facilities.

Growing urbanisation and climate pressures also drive demand for waste collection, recycling and circular economy solutions. Meanwhile, the construction sector seeks sustainable concrete and low-carbon building materials, and the energy sector is investing in renewables and flexible generation projects to meet the 2030 goal of 15% electricity from renewables.

In this context, all six countries will use the Summit platform to seek best-practice solutions to address existing challenges, leveraging resources at both the regional and international levels. This creates a clear window of opportunity for market entry, generating prospects for Swiss companies offering innovative and sustainable solutions.

The host country of the Summit, Kazakhstan has attracted USD 439.7 billion in foreign direct investment between 2005 and September 2025. With approximately USD 36.3 billion invested since 2005 (representing 8.3% of total FDI inflows since 2005), Switzerland ranks as the third-largest foreign investor in Kazakhstan. In this context, RES 2026 provides an ideal platform for Swiss companies to showcase innovation, connect with decision-makers, and engage in high-level networking.
